Acheng District lies 29 km southeast of downtown Harbin, and the rooms stay behind in the city rather than following the road out. Two patterns work. Most visits keep a base in central Harbin, come out past the Xiangfang District border that faces the city, and treat the Ashi valley as a day's ground, while fewer take a room among the nine subdistricts of what was Acheng City until 2006.
The second suits anyone following the Jurchen Jin Dynasty back to the river it was named for.

The Ashi River outranks any building here. Nine subdistricts, eight towns, one township and one ethnic township make up Acheng District, and the ground they cover runs from the Daowai District line southeast toward Shangzhi and Bin County. Visitors come out from Harbin for the valley and the Jin name rather than for a single address.
What is the history of Acheng District?
The name is older than the district. Acheng District was approved by the Chinese State Council in 2006, converted from the former Acheng City, a municipality that had carried the same name on its own. Before 1909 the place and the Ashi River were spoken of as one, and the Jurchen Jin Dynasty had already taken its name from that water.

The Ashi River basin holds Acheng District, which borders Shuangcheng District to the west, Bin County to the northeast and Wuchang to the south.
