What is the history of Hulan District?
The line around Hulan District is young; the ground inside it is not. Hulan County held this territory first, and on February 4, 2004, the Chinese State Council approved the county's conversion into one of the nine districts of Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province. The name survived the change. 呼兰区 is written where 呼兰县 once was, and the reach it describes still runs east to Bayan County and southeast to Bin County.
