Listed buildings are what the record names. Kleinreuth carries its own Baudenkmäler, which is what survives of a village of thirty-eight holdings. The Gemarkung is small.

Just over a square kilometre makes it one of the more compact of the Nuremberg cadastral units. Its name distinguishes two places. Rewt in 1335 became wenigen Riute in 1347 to separate it from neighbouring Großreuth, and hinder der festen was added in 1426 to separate it from Kleinreuth bei Schweinau.

What is the history of Kleinreuth hinter der Veste?

A royal clearing made the place. The Nuremberg Königshof carried it out in the 11th or 12th century, and the settlement appears in writing as Rewt in 1335. Names were added to tell it apart.

It was called wenigen Riute in 1347 to distinguish it from neighbouring Großreuth, and hinder der festen in 1426 to distinguish it from Kleinreuth bei Schweinau, that addition marking its position outside the walls north of the castle. War burned it in the 1550s. Groß- and Kleinreuth were both fired during the Second Margrave War of 1552 to 1554.

Late in the 18th century it held thirty-eight properties. The imperial city of Nuremberg claimed the high court, which Brandenburg-Bayreuth disputed, the city's Landpflegeamt held the village lordship, and ground lordship was split among the Kastenamt Cadolzburg, the city hospital office and the Nuremberg families von Fürer, von Grundherr, von Haller, von Holzschuher, von Praun, von Scheurl, von Stromer and von Tucher. States passed it along.

Kleinreuth went to Prussia in 1796, to Bavaria in 1810, into the Großreuth tax district in 1813, became a rural commune of its own under the second communal edict of 1818, passed to the Landgericht Nürnberg in 1826 and the Bezirksamt Nürnberg in 1862, and was taken into the city of Nuremberg on 1 January 1899.
