Aleksanterinkatu is the axis. The eastern side of Kyttälä runs up against the railway, which puts the platforms within a short walk of the blocks either side of Aleksanterinkatu, while the western edge falls away towards Tammerkoski. Rongankatu carries a two-way bicycle path down its middle after the 2023 rebuild.
Itsenäisyydenkatu leads out to Liisankallio and Sammonkatu.

What are the main landmarks in Kyttälä?
Five names sit in these blocks. Pyhien Aleksanteri Nevskin ja Nikolauksen kirkko is the church here, and Suomen nyrkkeilymuseo, Tampereen Luther-talo, Lääkemylly and Runoilija ja muusa fill out the rest of the list within a few streets of Aleksanterinkatu. Tuomiokirkonkatu heads north from among them.
Jussinkylä lies at the far end.
What is the history of Kyttälä?
Kyttälä began on the edge. It grew in the late 1870s as a working-class quarter beyond the eastern limit of the town, and Tampere expanded so quickly afterwards that the district ended up inside the city centre instead of outside it. Tammerkoski holds one boundary.
The railway holds the other, and Aleksanterinkatu runs between them as one of the district's main streets.
Where is Kyttälä?
The blocks run from Tammerkoski east to the railway, with Itsenäisyydenkatu striking out for Liisankallio and Tuomiokirkonkatu for Jussinkylä.
