Borgo Panigale - Reno is one of Bologna's six administrative boroughs, spread across the western edge of the city. It was formed in 2016 from the merger of the former Borgo Panigale and Reno quarters, and it takes half of its name from the river Reno. The borough is best known as the base of Ducati, whose motorcycle works and the Ducati Museum sit here. Much of it stays residential and industrial.

The setting is workaday rather than touristic. For sightseeing among the porticoes and piazzas, a bed closer in, toward Porto-Saragozza, leaves you nearer the sights.

Rising above the same slope is the arco del Meloncello, a Baroque arch that carries the hillside portico.

The modern borough dates only to 2016, when Bologna merged its former Borgo Panigale and Reno quarters into one western district. Its two halves carry older stories. Borgo Panigale grew along the road and rail leaving the city, and it became the seat of the Ducati works, whose museum records that industrial past.
The Reno side draws its name from the river that watered the farmland to the west. Much of the area's remembered history gathers at the Certosa, where the Monument to martyrs of Independence, the war ossuaries, and the Monument Ossuary of the fallen Partisans mark the dead of successive Italian struggles.

The borough covers the western side of Bologna, out beyond the ring roads of the medieval core. Its eastern flank runs up against the Porto-Saragozza district near the arco del Meloncello, where the long portico begins its climb into the hills. Between them lie flat fields and factory estates. The centre feels far off here.
