Loseto is a village core with fields at the end of every lane, and anyone staying for it books ten kilometres north in central Bari. Viale Gennaro Trisorio-Liuzzi carries that run, dropping south out of Bari through Carbonara di Bari and Ceglie del Campo before it ends at Via Cavour in the old streets. The Bari Loseto stop on the Bari-Bitritto line stands north of the old lanes, and AMTAB covers the same trip by bus.
The line ends at Bitritto. You come out here for the monumental gate, the Castello di Loseto, and the fields behind them.

What are the main landmarks in Loseto?
Loseto's old core gathers on Piazza Vittorio Emanuele III, where the chiesa di San Giorgio Martire answers to the quartiere's patron and hands its name to Via San Giorgio a few steps off. Its patronal feast falls on 23 April. North of it, the chiesa del Salvatore fronts Via Giuseppe Capriati.
The Castello di Loseto and the Palazzo del Sedile stand in the same knot of lanes, reached through the monumental gate that is still open to anyone heading out toward Ceglie del Campo. Two more sit in the same few streets: the Arco della Madonna and the Palazzo del Barone.
What is the history of Loseto?
Loseto's first written mention is a decree of Archbishop Rainaldo of Bari, issued between 1171 and 1188, binding the chapter of the village church to walk in procession to Bari's cathedral every 19 August. The catalogue of barons drawn up under William the Good in 1189 counts three soldiers and four servants sent from here. Tradition dates the name to 983.
Royal decree suppressed the comune of Loseto on 8 February 1937 and attached it to Bari as a frazione, and a council resolution of 26 January 1970 made it one of seventeen quartieri.
