Torre Pelosa keeps no guests. Bari proper carries the hotel trade, and a bed in the centre still leaves the quartiere within an easy local ride, close enough for the chiesa di San Nicola and the Fisherman's monument in one afternoon. The choice is between the centre of Bari and a seaward quartiere of about five square kilometres. Municipio 1 covers Torre Pelosa and the two churches alike.

What are the main landmarks in Torre a Mare?
Torre Pelosa heads the list. The coastal tower gave the quartiere the name it carried until 1938, and it kept that name for itself when Torre a Mare took over as the address. Two churches follow, the chiesa di San Nicola and the chiesa della Madonna di Lourdes.
The Fisherman's monument and the bust of Michele Gervasio close the list, one for the trade that worked this coast and one for a man the quartiere chose to remember.
What is the history of Torre a Mare?
The name changed in 1938. Until then the quartiere was Torre Pelosa, after the tower, and the change to Torre a Mare left the older name with the tower rather than with the district around it. Its founding year is entered as 1970, three decades after that split.
A 2014 redrawing of Bari's municipi placed the quartiere in Municipio 1, and there it has stayed.
Where is Torre a Mare?
About five square kilometres of coast at Bari's outer edge make up Torre a Mare, with Torre Pelosa standing at the seaward end.
