Not every neighbourhood fits every trip — here's what each one is good for.
The Kyushu National Museum is the single strongest reason to book a bed near Chikushino, and everything else on the register arranges itself around that decision. Dazaifu names follow. Dazaifu Tenman-gū no Ōkusu, the Dazaifu Exhibition Hall, and the Dazaifu Fureai Museum of History and Culture belong to the same short circuit, and a stay planned for one of them tends to take in the others.
Families get an easy answer. Dazaifu Amusement Park is the only entry built for entertainment rather than for study, and a night booked with children along should keep it close. Older ground is quieter.
The Dazaifu Gakkōin Site, 宮ノ本遺跡, and the Tōnobaru pagoda ruins are excavations rather than attractions, and beds near them trade convenience for the sort of morning nobody else is having. Urano Castle stands alone. It is the one fortified name in a register otherwise made of museums, halls, and dug ground, so a visit organised around it looks different from any other.
If collections are what suit you, Kanzeon-ji Treasure House and the Kankō Historical Museum are the two to pair. 1955 gave the city its shape. Fukuoka Prefecture holds all eleven names, and Chikushino covers a moderate area of it, so a bed chosen for the Kyushu National Museum will not sit on top of Urano Castle.

What is the history of Chikushino-shi?
The oldest ground is excavated. 宮ノ本遺跡 and the Tōnobaru pagoda ruins survive as sites rather than as standing buildings, and the Dazaifu Gakkōin Site belongs with them, three names that a spade recovered rather than a builder raised. Urano Castle came differently. A fortified site sits in a separate tradition from a pagoda ruin or a school foundation, and its presence gives the register a military strand it would otherwise lack entirely.
Kanzeon-ji Treasure House holds the religious record. The city itself dates from 1955. 筑紫野町 is the official form the place carries in Japan, and the boundary that name describes gathered a spread of Fukuoka Prefecture into one municipality. Institutions arrived afterwards.
The Kyushu National Museum, the Dazaifu Exhibition Hall, the Dazaifu Fureai Museum of History and Culture, and the Kankō Historical Museum were all built to present a history rather than to be one.
