What is the history of Dębniki?
Dębniki grew up around the river. It began as a riverside settlement on the Vistula bank facing the Old Town, its life turning on the crossing and the parish of the Church of SS. Margaret and Judith, before Kraków spread across the water and drew the ground in as a district.
The mound came to define it. Krakovians heaped the Kościuszko Mound on the hill above in tribute to Tadeusz Kościuszko, and the Muzeum Kościuszkowskie later rose beside it to hold that memory.
