Anyone driving finds the N31 useful, since the expressway runs along one edge of the wijk and carries traffic past Sint-Andries without sending it through the medieval streets of Brugge.

Sportcomplex Koude Keuken carries the quarter's name and most of its everyday traffic. The Penitentiair Complex Brugge takes a large share of the ground beside it, together with a park domain and the former women's prison Refuge, which later served as a closed centre for asylum seekers who had exhausted their procedures. Sint-Baafskerk and the Charterhouse Sint-Anna-ter-Woestijne stand elsewhere in Sint-Andries.

The Charterhouse Sint-Anna-ter-Woestijne set monastic use on this side of Brugge, and Sint-Baafskerk held a parish on the same outer ground, both of them older than the housing that fills Koude Keuken between the Gistelse Steenweg and Varsenare. Housing filled in behind the Gistelse Steenweg.
The Refuge came as a women's prison, later a closed centre for asylum seekers whose claims had run out, and the Penitentiair Complex Brugge followed on the same ground.
