Hotel signs thin out east of the Langerei. A handful of small guesthouses stand in the streets around the Sint-Annakerk, near enough to the Belfry of Bruges for the whole walled centre to be covered on foot, and far enough from it for the evenings to stay quiet. The trade-off is choice.
Visitors wanting a wide run of hotels take rooms west across the water, then cross back over for the Jerusalem church and the Kantcentrum.

What are the main landmarks in Sint-Anna?
The baroque Sint-Annakerk gives the quarter its name and stands at its heart. A short walk from it is the Jerusalem church, with the Kantcentrum carrying on the lace trade in the streets beside it. Guido Gezelle is remembered a few doors away.
Most of what pulls visitors into Brugge sits west across the Langerei, where the Belfry of Bruges, the Groeningemuseum and the Church of Our Lady stand in the busier half of the walled centre.
What is the history of Sint-Anna?
Sint-Anna answers to two other names, Sint-Annakwartier and Seminariekwartier. The boundary is administrative in origin: the Ruimtelijk Structuurplan Brugge of 1972 divided the walled centre into nine kwartieren, and this one took the ground between the Langerei and the Kruisvest. Its line follows much older work.
The Kruisvest runs along the ramparts of the second town wall, and those defences still mark the eastern edge of the quarter. At the middle of it all stands the baroque Sint-Annakerk.
Where is Sint-Anna?
The quarter fills the north-eastern corner of Brugge's binnenstad, reaching from the Langerei across to the Kruisvest, the rampart walk that follows the line of the second town wall. Langestraat closes it to the south. Beyond that street lies the Langestraatkwartier.
