Fuensanta keeps almost no beds of its own, so most visitors sleep in Córdoba's historic centre and travel out to it. The blocks run four to eight storeys. Choose it if you want a working residential quarter where the housing stands in its own gardens and a car can be left at the kerb.
The Mezquita-Catedral lies about a kilometre and a half west, in the old city. Córdoba's main railway station sits roughly two kilometres west. Buses stop around the perimeter rather than inside, including on Avenida Nuestra Señora de la Fuensanta.

About Fuensanta
What are the main landmarks in Fuensanta?
Fuensanta's oldest landmarks stand at its edges, among them the Cementerio de San Rafael at the northern end. It was finished in 1835. An arcaded gallery went up around the original burial ground in 1861, and the painter Julio Romero de Torres lies buried there.
At the western corner the ruined Iglesia Madre de Dios of 1602 still carries its bell gable of 1716. Plaza de la Juventud opens near the middle. The Sala de la Fuensanta, the municipal sports hall on Calle Pintor Pedro Antonio Rodríguez, hosted Spain's futsal squad before the 1996 European Championship.
The Santuario de Nuestra Señora de la Fuensanta stands just outside the southern edge, where Fuensanta, Santuario, and Arcángel meet.
What is the history of Fuensanta?
Fuensanta was market gardens and small industry until the Instituto Nacional de Urbanización laid a residential polígono across it. The plan allowed housing and nothing else. The Cementerio de San Rafael on the northern side kept buyers away, and owners were slow to release land that still paid as farmland.
Blocks rose four to eight storeys. Streets took the names of explorers and conquistadors, and the axis of Calle Hernando de Magallanes and Calle de Francisco Pizarro carries most of the barrio's public facilities. Paving, sewers, piped water, and the first sports grounds arrived with the Proyecto de Reparación y Equipamiento Urbanístico of 1974.
Where is Fuensanta?
Fuensanta sits east of Córdoba's old city, with Campo Madre de Dios down its western side and Avenida Nuestra Señora de la Fuensanta closing the southern end.
