What are the main landmarks in El Brillante?
El Brillante keeps its landmarks behind garden walls rather than on a square. Chalet El Bosque and Chalet La Favela stand on the slope above Avenida del Brillante, two of the detached houses that Andalusia's historic-heritage inventory records here. Colegio Las Teresianas holds a walled block lower down, and the Casa de Cursillos San Pablo sits near the top of the barrio where the streets run out into the sierra.

What is the history of El Brillante?
El Brillante was a thriving settlement front on the sierra above Córdoba in the mid-1930s, a colonisation zone of large hillside plots. The engineer Julián Azofra commissioned Casa Azofra from the architect Enrique Tienda Pesquero in 1935, and the work had to be finished before December 1936 to qualify under the anti-unemployment law then in force. The chalets set the pattern.
Detached houses on walled garden plots became the barrio's grain, and Chalet Yllescas keeps that form on the western slope. Avenida del Brillante carried the growth uphill.
Where is El Brillante?
El Brillante holds the northern edge of built-up Córdoba, running downhill to El Patriarca, El Tablero, Asomadilla and El Naranjo. Open sierra wraps the rest.
