About Huhtasuo
What are the main landmarks in Huhtasuo?
The local landmark is the church. Huhtasuon kirkko stands among the housing as the waymark of Huhtasuo, the building that fixes this suburban quarter on the north-eastern side of Jyväskylä. The streets around it are residential.
For the city's museums and lake shore you head south-west toward the centre, passing the trade of Seppälä on the way through central Finland.
What is the history of Huhtasuo?
It was built, not grown. As Jyväskylä spread north-east over the post-war decades, planners laid out apartment blocks and housing across this ground to take in the growing city, and Huhtasuo rose largely as a planned suburban quarter among the north-eastern districts beside Seppälä and Lohikoski. A parish church anchored it.
Huhtasuon kirkko gave the suburb a centre of its own.
Where is Huhtasuo?
Out toward the north-east it lies. Huhtasuo takes up part of the north-eastern side of Jyväskylä in central Finland, a residential quarter beyond the inner city, with Seppälä between it and the centre and Lohikoski further along the northern reach. Lakeland surrounds the city here.
