Kortepohja, Jyväskylä — Area Guide & Where to Stay

The local waymark is the church. Kortepohjan kirkko stands among the housing as the landmark of Kortepohja, the building that fixes this western quarter within Jyväskylä. Around it the streets run residential and student-led.

For the city's museums and lake shore you head east toward the centre, a short way past districts like Viitaniemi in central Finland.

Jyväskylä grew westward over the years, and the ground here was built up as a planned residential area for the city. Kortepohja came together as a student and housing quarter on the western side, taking its place among districts like Keltinmäki and Viitaniemi. A parish church was raised to serve it.

West of the centre is its ground. Kortepohja sits on the western side of Jyväskylä in central Finland, a residential quarter set out from the lakeside core, with Keltinmäki to its south and Viitaniemi along the way back toward the middle of the city. The wider land is lakeland.
