About Finlayson

Where to stay in Finlayson
Where you base yourself shapes the visit — here's the character of each area.
Tallipiha and the mill blocks decide it. Rooms inside the old Finlayson factory quarter leave the whole of central Tampere within a walk, while the residential streets between Hämeenpuisto and Satakunnankatu stay back from the ground beside Tammerkoski. Näsinpuisto is the green side.
Mustanlahti opens on the water.
About Finlayson
What are the main landmarks in Finlayson?
Three palaces stand here. Näsilinna, Finlayson Palace and Pikkupalatsi give the district its grandest buildings, with Museo Milavida among them and Tallipiha and Finlaysonin kirkko a short walk away through the old works. Näsinpuisto lies alongside.
Tammerkoski runs at the eastern edge of the whole quarter.
What is the history of Finlayson?
The works came first. Finlayson began as a factory ground on the west bank of Tammerkoski, and the quarter that carries its name still holds the mill blocks together with the residential streets laid between Hämeenpuisto and Satakunnankatu. Grand houses came next.
Näsilinna, Finlayson Palace and Pikkupalatsi still stand in the district, and Museo Milavida sits among them.
Where is Finlayson?
Hämeenpuisto and Satakunnankatu edge the residential blocks, Tammerkoski forms the eastern boundary, and Näsinpuisto reaches towards the Mustanlahti harbour.
