Ratina, Tampere — Area Guide & Where to Stay

Ratina holds a peninsula on the east bank of Tammerkoski, with Tampere Bus Station, the Ratina Stadium and a shopping centre on it.
About Ratina

Where to stay in Ratina
Each area has its own feel; here's who each one suits.
Beds here sit beside the bus station. Rooms in and around the Ratina shopping centre put arrivals a few minutes from the platforms, and Laukonsilta carries walkers straight over the water to Laukontori and the centre without any detour by road. Koskikeskus lies just north.
The Ratina Stadium stands on the same ground.
About Ratina
What are the main landmarks in Ratina?
Four names carry the district. The Ratina Stadium, the Ratina shopping centre and Tampere Bus Station all stand on the same peninsula, while Koskikeskus adds a second mall immediately to the north of Ratinanniemi. Tammerkoski runs past the western edge.
Laukonsilta cuts the walk over to Laukontori and the middle of Tampere.
What is the history of Ratina?
Factories came first. Ratinanranta, the southern strip along the Tampere highway, was recreation ground and works before rebuilding began in 2008 and dense apartment blocks replaced it, with the last of them raised east of Voimakatu. The roads came with them.
Ratinansilta and Hämeenpuisto tie the district to Highway 12, and the Helsinki-Tampere motorway feeds the Tampere Ring Road from the same side.
Where is Ratina?
Ratinanniemi pushes into the water at the southern edge of central Tampere, held between Ratinansuvanto and Viinikanlahti, with Laukonsilta crossing to Laukontori.
