Rooms out that way trade the shops for quiet streets, and anyone who wants green ground rather than pavement should look toward the Vallée-aux-Loups and the land around Château de Bellevue. The neighbours carry most of the supply. Issy-les-Moulineaux and Boulogne-Billancourt carry far more rooms than Clamart, and Aquaboulevard pulls families toward the same stretch, so a bed there often makes better sense. Vanves, Malakoff and Châtillon lie between, each a short hop with its own parish church.
Sceaux and Fontenay-aux-Roses suit slower stays. If you are here for the parks and the older houses rather than for Paris itself, the Clamart side is the better half of the choice, and Le Plessis-Robinson continues it. The older housing shows in cité sans Souci and Maison Le Chalet Blanc.

What is the history of Clamart?
A château came before the suburb. Château de Bellevue and the Vallée-aux-Loups belong to an older layer, from the years when this side of Paris was still country and Clamart was a village around église Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul de Clamart. Named houses survive from those years, among them Maison de Jean-Jacques Huvé.
Then Paris pushed outward. Hauts-de-Seine filled in around it, and Clamart grew until its edge met both Essonne and Yvelines. New parishes followed the new streets, with Église Saint-François-de-Sales de Clamart and Eglise Saint-Joseph de Clamart added to the old one, and cité sans Souci and Maison Le Chalet Blanc recording how people were housed.
The tour INSEE belongs to the newest layer. Around the commune, other congregations built their own: the Armenian Apostolic Church of Saint Mary Mother of God, Église russe de Vanves and Église Notre-Dame de Malakoff. A monument of remembrance stands among them.

Clamart sits in the southwestern suburbs of Paris, under nine kilometres from the centre, and belongs to Hauts-de-Seine. Two other departments start here. The commune touches both Essonne and Yvelines, so three departments meet within a short distance of the same streets.
Vanves, Malakoff, Châtillon, Le Plessis-Robinson, Fontenay-aux-Roses and Sceaux ring it within the same continuous suburb, and Issy-les-Moulineaux and Boulogne-Billancourt carry the streets on toward the capital. Green ground survives at the Vallée-aux-Loups.
What is the climate of Clamart?
Nothing in the temperate Île-de-France year keeps Clamart indoors for long, and the green edges around the Vallée-aux-Loups take walkers through most of it. The seasons are gentle. A temperate band covers the whole region, so winter stays short of hard and summer short of fierce.

Roads from Issy-les-Moulineaux and Boulogne-Billancourt come in from the Paris side.
