The eighth rione takes its name from the church of Sant'Eustachio, and the numbering it belongs to was fixed for the medieval city around 1300. Roman work came first. The Ara Pacis, the Solarium Augusti and the Arch of Claudius belong to the imperial city, and the Amphitheater of Caligula and the Temple of Matidia are recorded on ground the rione later covered.
The Accademia di San Luca and the Istituto nazionale per la grafica came with the later institutions of Rome, and Municipio I administers the rione.
