Not every neighbourhood fits every trip — here's what each one is good for.
Stanic keeps no hotel row, and its beds sit among workers' housing rather than shopfronts. Everything runs off via Bruno Buozzi, which carries traffic from the centre of Bari through the quartiere to Modugno, where the same road becomes the Strada Statale 96. Trains stop at Villaggio del Lavoratore.
That halt opened in 2020, and the SS 16 tangenziale carries an exit signed Bari Stanic. Choose Stanic if you have a car and want Modugno and the industrial belt within reach rather than the old town of Bari.

What are the main landmarks in Stanic?
Strada San Giorgio Martire holds most of what Stanic has to show. Teatro Kismet works from number 22/f. Further out, where the built roads give way to fields on the Picone boundary, the chiesetta di San Giorgio Martire has stood since the 11th century, a rural Romanesque church on a contracted Greek-cross plan under a single dome.
Looters and fly-tippers had the run of it for decades, and in 2014 the owners walled the doorway shut. The Villaggio del Lavoratore housing is the other thing Stanic is known by.
What is the history of Stanic?
Stanic grew up around a fuel plant that ANIC raised in the late 1930s to work Albanian oil into petrol. On 30 April 1947, on the road to Modugno, the first stone of the Villaggio del Lavoratore was laid, and the housing that followed took the plant's own workers. Esso took half the works after the war, and the name Stanic came from Standard Oil and ANIC.
The works closed for good in 1976. Bari set out its quartieri in resolution 489 of 26 January 1970, and moved Stanic to Municipio III in 2014.
Where is Stanic?
Between San Paolo, Picone, and the comune of Modugno, Stanic runs to a little over ten square kilometres, closed on the south by the Bari-Taranto railway.
