Rooms in Sé divide between the old streets around Senado Square and the newer towers on reclaimed ground behind the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, a short ride apart and unalike in every other way. Guia Hill stands between them. Along Avenida da Praia Grande the windows face Nam Van Lake and the bridge ramp to Taipa.
Guesthouses cluster near Igreja de São Domingos. Take the square end if the Historic Centre of Macau is what brought you, and the harbour end if you land by ferry.

About Sé
What are the main landmarks in Sé?
The cathedral gives the parish its name. Cathedral of the Nativity of Our Lady sits above Largo da Sé on ground raised a few streets back from the paving and crowds of Senado Square. Leal Senado Building faces that square from the far side.
Igreja de São Domingos opens off it. Guia Hill rises behind the parish, carrying Guia Fortress and the Guia Lighthouse that has marked the harbour approach since 1865. Nam Van Lake edges the southern shore.
What is the history of Sé?
Portuguese Macau organised itself by parish. Sé takes its name from the Cathedral of the Nativity of Our Lady, seat of the diocese, and the parish grew around that church, the square below it and the bay beyond. Guia Lighthouse first showed a light in 1865, set on a hill the Portuguese had fortified in the 1620s.
Then the bay closed. Reclamation turned the water off the Praia Grande into Nam Van Lake and Sai Van Lake, while the ground east of it carries the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal and the towers behind it.
Where is Sé?
Sé covers 3.4 square kilometres of the Macau Peninsula, second in size only to Nossa Senhora de Fátima, and meets São Lázaro and São Lourenço inland.
