What are the main landmarks in Łazarz?

Wilson Park is the set piece of Łazarz, laid out as a formal public garden and still the district's largest open ground. The rest of the neighbourhood's interest is architectural rather than monumental: the whole pre-war urban complex carries a monument-register listing, so the frontages themselves are the exhibit. Big collections begin past Stary Browar.

The National Museum in Poznań, the Imperial Castle and the Old Market Square all lie north-east, a walk or a short ride from the park railings.

What is the history of Łazarz?

Building came before the paperwork. The tenement streets that give Łazarz its shape went up in the decades before the Second World War, and the whole urban-architectural complex was entered in the register of monuments on 6 October 1982 under the number A-239. Poznań drew its administrative lines later.

The city's municipal information system fixed Łazarz as a named area unit, set on the ground of the larger auxiliary unit that carries the same saint's name, so the two boundaries are not identical.

Where is Łazarz?

Łazarz lies south-west of Poznań's centre, held between Grunwald on its western side and Wilda on its eastern, with Wilson Park the one large opening in the grid.
