Głuszyna sits at the far end of Poznań, inside the city boundary only since 1942. Houses here are numbered along a single street that carries the district's own name, so the cemetery stands at ulica Głuszyna 161 and Szkoła Podstawowa nr 53 at ulica Głuszyna 187. Piotrowo and Sypniewo lie further out in the Kopel valley, where the Głuszynka comes in. Bus 158 runs along ulica Głuszyna to the Starołęka loop.
Line 153 ends at Unii Lubelskiej. Choose the Kopel end if the valley matters more to you than a timetable.

What are the main landmarks in Głuszyna?
The church of St. James the Greater stands in the middle of the old village on ulica Głuszyna, its 13th-century shell laid in Wendish bond. Friedrich Ladegast built its organ in 1884. Four altars fill it.
The churchyard, enclosed since 1867 and ringed by small-leaved limes set out in 1877, holds the Sypniewski family tomb of 1878, where Felicjan Sypniewski lies. The Manor in Poznań Piotrowo, designed by Roger Sławski and finished in 1907, sits at ulica Sypniewo 10 in a park of five ponds. An obelisk to Paweł Edmund Strzelecki stands outside the school at ulica Głuszyna 187.
What is the history of Głuszyna?
Głuszyna enters the written record in 1296, as ecclesia Gluschinensis. Mikołaj Przedpełkowic, voivode of Kalisz, had a collegiate chapter with its own provost erected at the parish church that year, and the bishops of Poznań took the estate in 1364. A one-wheel mill paid tax in 1508. Łukasz Kościelecki folded the chapter into the collegiate church of All Saints in Poznań in 1582, and it was wound up in 1603.
Paweł Edmund Strzelecki was born here in 1797, in a manor that no longer stands. The Soviet generals Vasily Chuikov and Mikhail Katukov met here on 24 January 1945 and settled which of them would take the city.
