This is blocks of flats and little else. Piątkowo and Winogrady together form a group of housing estates of much the same character and size as Rataje, Żegrze and Chartowo across the river, and the fabric here is almost entirely multi-storey. The roads set the edges.
It lies east of ulica Obornicka and north of ulica Lechicka, which is what joins it to Winogrady, with railway line 395 closing it to the north and Naramowice to the east. Together the two estates cover 4.63 square kilometres.

What are the main landmarks in Piątkowo?
The name is the oldest thing on the ground. Piątkowo has a medieval record going back at least to the middle of the 13th century, and the first surviving mention is a Latin document of 1253, known from a copy of 1298, in which it appears as Panthcow. It changed spelling for three hundred years.
Panthcovo in 1288, Puntchove in 1291, Pentchow in 1296, Panthkowo in 1398 and Pantcowo in 1400 all name the same village, and the Polish form settles slowly through Pyathkowo in 1469 and Pyanthkowo at the end of that century. Piątkowo is first written that way in 1577. Everything standing here is four centuries younger than that.

A village stood here before the city reached it. Piątkowo was tied to Wielkopolska from the start and has a medieval record going back at least to the middle of the 13th century, which makes it older than most of what surrounds it now. The record is a chain of spellings.
Panthcow in the 1253 document, Panthcovo in 1288, Puntchove in 1291, Pentchow in 1296, Panthkowo in 1398, Pantcowo in 1400, Pyathkowo in 1469, Pyątkow in 1486, Pyanthkowo through the years to 1492 and Pianthkowo in 1563 all record the same place. The modern form arrives in 1577. From then the name is Piątkowo, and what changed after that was not the name but the ground, which stayed farmland until the estates were built.
Two councils divide it now. Osiedle Piątkowo covers 3.84 square kilometres and Osiedle Piątkowo Północ 0.79, and between them they make up the whole of the district.
