What is the history of Pallouriotissa?
Pallouriotissa was an independent village before Nicosia took it in, governed by its own Improvement Board. Annexation took effect on 29 March 1968. The Pallouriotissa and Kaimakli boards passed to the municipality alongside the village authority of Omorfita, and the transfer multiplied Nicosia's area fivefold.
On 1 August 1977 the quarter was divided into the parishes of Panagia and Agioi Konstantinos kai Eleni. The invasion of 1974 left part of its administrative area inside the buffer zone, and the National Guard fortified the Pallouriotissa girls' gymnasium in 1976 because its classrooms stood beside the ceasefire line.
