Not every neighbourhood fits every trip — here's what each one is good for.
Kiyose holds only a small stock of rooms. The city runs to barely ten square kilometres of the western metropolis, so a room here is a base for the wider run of museums rather than a stay with a centre to walk out into. The Kiyose City Folk Museum is the local anchor.
Everything else worth a detour is a train ride away, which makes the direction of travel the thing to settle before booking. One group is the animation stops. Anyone here for the Ghibli Museum, the Inokashira Park Zoo or the Suginami Animation Museum should weigh a bed toward that side, because those three make an easy day together and a poor one split across the metropolis.
The other group is heavier going. The Tokorozawa Aviation Museum, the Kadokawa Culture Museum and Seibu-en pull the opposite way, with the National Hansen's Disease Museum and the Gas Museum along the same line. Most stays land close to the Kiyose City Folk Museum rather than beside any single collection further out, and that is the right compromise when the day is going to start with a train anyway.
Reds Land suits a different visitor. Groups arriving for the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Public Information Center or the NTT History Center of Technologies will find the same handful of rooms, so booking early matters whenever either has something on.
