Górczyn was built to be lived in. Rows of nineteenth-century farm buildings on ulica Palacza, the interwar Budowki colony off ulica Głogowska, and the concrete slabs raised behind them after 1970 account for most of the district, and none of that stock was ever meant to take guests. Beds cluster instead beyond ulica Palacza in Łazarz, closer to the fair grounds.
Trams 5, 14 and 17 leave the Górczyn PKM loop. Pick it if you want a quiet street and a short ride to Poznań Główny rather than a bar downstairs.

What are the main landmarks in Górczyn?
Cmentarz Górczyński opened on ulica Ściegiennego in 1910, laid out by Bolesław Ziółkowski around one long avenue crossed by four side alleys, with a chapel that Kazimierz Ruciński drew in 1914 and a cast-iron gate at its head. Kościół Świętego Krzyża stands between ulica Częstochowska and ulica Ostrobramska. Its parish dates from 1929.
The care home known as Zakład św. Łazarza fills a corner at ulica Sielska 13. Kościół Chrystusa Sługi went up at ulica Macieja Palacza 7, right on the Łazarz boundary.
What is the history of Górczyn?
A charter of 1284 recorded the village as Gorczino, when Przemysł II handed it to a Poznań burgher to settle under Magdeburg law, with a hereditary sołtys taking every sixth łan, the mills, the tavern, and the fish ponds. The city bought its way in piece by piece and won the last share in 1610. Bamberg settlers followed after 1750.
On 30 July 1814 the cortege carrying Józef Poniatowski formed here before entering Poznań. Górczyn men rode out under their sołtys Maciej Palacz in the rising of 1846. Incorporation followed in 1900, once Twierdza Poznań was wound down.
