Komandoria puts a bed beside rondo Śródka, where tram lines 6 and 8 begin their run east along ulica Warszawska. Rooms sit among flats rather than hotel frontage: postwar blocks off ulica Konarskiego, gallery-access workers' housing from the late 1930s, and the estate Zdzisław Podoski laid out between 1948 and 1952. Podoski planned it for 360 families.
A walk west over the Warta reaches the left-bank core in minutes. Stay here if your evening should end at the water of Jezioro Maltańskie rather than on a bar street.

What are the main landmarks in Komandoria?
Komandoria keeps one monument of its own: Saint John of Jerusalem Outside the Walls, at Świętojańska 1A, a two-nave church whose oldest walls are among the first brick raised in Wielkopolska. A Maltese cross tops the gable. Its Romanesque west portal carries an eleventh-century column reinstalled base upward, and the crypt under the Holy Cross Chapel holds two commanders of the order, Michał Stanisław Dąbrowski and Andrzej Marcin Miaskowski.
Jezioro Maltańskie laps the southern edge, though the water counts as Malta. Eastward the district runs out at the Pomet works.
What is the history of Komandoria?
Komandoria grew around a church of Saint Michael raised at the end of the eleventh century, by the fork of the roads running to Giecz and Śrem. Jan Długosz dates a hospice for pilgrims beside it to 6 May 1170, and in 1187 Mieszko III the Old handed church and hospice to the Knights Hospitaller, whose commandery held the ground until the Prussian state dissolved it in 1832. The order re-dedicated the church before 1288.
Poznań drew the quarter inside its boundary in 1925, and streets cut in 1936 took the names of Poznań bishops, among them Piotr Tomicki and Andrzej Łaskarz.
