Władysław Gniot cut its faces with anglers' floats in 1979, marking the centenary of the Polski Związek Wędkarski, and it holds the estate square by the shopping pavilions. The Roth family's Bamberg farmhouse on ulica Piłsudskiego escaped the demolition and still stands.

Osiedle Jagiellońskie stands on ground once farmed by the royal village of Rataje, whose name comes from the hired ploughmen who worked those fields. Bamberg settlers took holdings here in the eighteenth century. Poznań absorbed the village in 1925.
A planning competition ran from 1950 to 1952, the city council approved the resulting layout in 1962, and a dedicated Rataje studio inside the Miastoprojekt office drew the blocks that followed. The first flats were handed over in 1969. Mohammad Reza Pahlavi toured the Rataje estates in 1977.
