Spławie hangs off ulica Ostrowska, the county road that carries the quarter south from Poznań Franowo towards the city boundary. Cobbles gave way to asphalt. What stands here is detached housing on old farm plots, along ulica Spławie and the lanes that leave it.

What are the main landmarks in Spławie?
The church of St. Andrew the Apostle stands at ulica Spławie 86, rebuilt between 1692 and 1736 after fire took its fifteenth-century predecessor during the Swedish Deluge of 1656. Massive buttresses hold the neo-Gothic shell. Its vault came down in the fighting for Poznań in 1945, and a pseudo-stellar ceiling replaced it in 1953.
A free-standing belfry of 1891 carries three bells, the presbytery dates from 1878, and gravestones left from the old parish cemetery still lie in the churchyard. Katarzyna Stasińska made the windows.
What is the history of Spławie?
Spławie held a Bronze Age settlement of the Trzciniec culture between ulica Ostrowska and ulica Poznańskie Sady, and a second of the eleventh and twelfth centuries 400 metres south-east of the cemetery. A Latin charter of 1299 names the comes Jarosław ze Spławia. The Spławski family took its name here.
Przedpełk ze Spławia held the castellany of Poznań from 1314 to 1322. Spławie seated its own parish from 1386, and tax rolls counted 34 łans in 1423. The city drew it inside the limits in 1942.
