On the town side, Harbour Park, Littlehampton Museum and the Parish Church of St Mary Magdalen sit close enough to each other that a stay near the seafront covers the beach and the museum on the same walk, which is the strongest argument for a base in the town rather than in the villages. Rooms are seasonal.
Quieter streets sit back from the front, with St Catherine's Church and the Parish Church of St Nicholas as the landmarks on that side, and the harbour at the mouth of the River Arun stays within reach either way. Villages are the alternative. Rustington keeps a museum of its own, Angmering holds the Roman villa, and Tortington's St Mary Magdalene's Church and Bailiffscourt Chapel belong to the same scattered parish country in the Arun District.
Beds there are thin. A car does most of the work on that side, and it suits anyone who wants the churches and the villa more than the sand. Bognor Regis and Worthing are the fallback if the town fills, both on the Sussex coast within an easy run of the River Arun.
