Antoninek is a quarter of single-family houses and three block estates, laid out south of ulica Warszawska. The tram does not reach the upper half: lines 6 and 8 turn back at the Miłostowo loop by the cemetery, and Antoninek Górny depends on buses. Regional trains call at the Poznań Antoninek stop on the run from Konin into Poznań Główny.
Poznań Nowe Zoo falls outside the quarter, two kilometres off to the west. Woods begin at the last houses. Take a room here for the Cybina valley ponds and the woods behind them.

What are the main landmarks in Antoninek?
The Holy Spirit church stands at ulica Jaromira 1 in Antoninek, a triangular building between ulica Zbyłowita and ulica Leszka with its tower over one corner. An earlier church rose here from 1938, and the German occupier blew it up in 1941. Aleksander Holas designed the replacement.
Work ran from 1974 to 31 October 1976, when the building was blessed, and Zdzisław Fortuniak consecrated it in 1998. Older cottages line ulica Miłowita, postwar housing ulica Mścibora, and the Huta Szkła Antoninek glassworks has held the east side since 1933. The Wiadukt Antoninek carries ulica Warszawska over railway line 3.
What is the history of Antoninek?
Poznań drew Antoninek inside its boundary in 1940, eleven years before Antonin and Główieniec followed on 1 January 1951. Through 1945 the forests around the houses served as the city's disposal ground for mines, anti-tank shells, hand grenades, and other unexploded ordnance cleared from across Poznań. The city named twenty-seven streets in 1945.
All were taken from Slavic given names after the Second World War, and one of them, Gorysława, was respelled Gorzysława in 1979. Antoninek sat inside the Nowe Miasto district from 1954 to 1990.
