Osiedle Orła Białego is a cooperative housing estate rather than a lodging quarter, and its blocks hold flats, not rooms, so a stay here means looking just outside the boundary. Three tram stops carry the name Żegrze. The track along ulica Żegrze runs north-west into Rataje and on toward the middle of Poznań, while ulica Kurlandzka closes the estate along the south. Chartowo lies beyond ulica Bobrzańska to the north-east, and Osiedle Stare Żegrze and Osiedle Polan sit across ulica Żegrze to the north-west.

What is the history of Osiedle Orła Białego?
Osiedle Orła Białego went up between the early 1980s and 1993 as Osiedle ZMP, for the Związek Młodzieży Polskiej. Two neighbours on Żegrze carried acronyms of their own, and all three shed them after the political transformation, Osiedle Stare Żegrze dropping ZWM in 1991. Its first flats had no church, and their parish sat on Osiedle Stare Żegrze.
In June 1987 a petition of more than 1,200 signatures asked the voivode of Poznań for a plot, and Archbishop Jerzy Stroba set Piotr Bydałek to the work a year later. The first Mass was said in 1989. The parish of Świętego Mateusza Apostoła i Ewangelisty was erected on 1 May 1992.
