A resolution of the Poznań city national council, dated 27 October 1967, named the planned estate Kraju Rad, and that label held until the fall of communism brought Wichrowe Wzgórze in its place. Kombinat Budowlany Poznań-Północ finished the blocks in 1981, working to a design by Jerzy Buszkiewicz. Numbering starts at 2. The area sat inside the Stare Miasto district until 1990, gained its own auxiliary unit in 2000, then merged into Osiedle Nowe Winogrady Północ on 1 January 2011.
