About Qingbaijiang District

Where to stay in Qingbaijiang District
Where you base yourself shapes the visit — here's the character of each area.
Qingbaijiang District puts its hotels in Dawan Subdistrict, the built-up core seven kilometres west of Chengxiang. Qingbaijiangdong station has taken high-speed trains since 20 December 2014. Chengxiang lost the county seat in 1950.
Dadong Street carries the Xiuchuan Academy at number 125 and the Mingjiao Temple Juehuang Hall at number 113, a few doors apart, so stay out there if you want Ming and Qing woodwork rather than a rail port.
About Qingbaijiang District
What are the main landmarks in Qingbaijiang District?
Qingbaijiang District holds its oldest buildings in Chengxiang, the old Jintang county town. The Mingjiao Temple Juehuang Hall stands at 113 Dadong Street, inside Chengxiang Middle School, a five-bay hall raised early in the Hongwu reign and still carrying its Ming painted woodwork. Up the same street at number 125, the Xiuchuan Academy moved onto its plot in 1720 and keeps four courtyards. Sichuan protects both.
At the Chengxiang Confucian and Martial Temples the Dacheng Hall still stands, though the Confucian temple's two side galleries are gone. The General Peng Memorial Monument has stood on Gongyuan Road since 1913, raised for Peng Jiazhen, the Xinhai revolutionary who killed the Qing loyalist Liangbi and himself with one bomb.
What is the history of Qingbaijiang District?
Qingbaijiang District was assembled in 1960 out of communes taken from Xindu and Jintang counties. Chengxiang is fourteen hundred years older. Western Wei carved Baimou county out of Xindu in 553 and put its seat at Chengxiang.
What forced the modern boundary was industry: the Sichuan Fertilizer Plant went up at Huayan from 1956 under the First Five-Year Plan, the Chengdu Steel Plant followed in 1958, and the two works drew in enough people that Sichuan approved a district to govern them on 15 July 1960. The Qingbaijiang name comes from the river.
Where is Qingbaijiang District?
Qingbaijiang District lies along the north-eastern edge of the Chengdu Plain. Xindu District closes it in on the west, Longquanyi District on the south, and Jintang County on the east and south-east, while Guanghan, in Deyang, meets it at the northern line. The Qingbaijiang and the Pi River both run east into Jintang County and join the North River at Zhaozhen, where the Tuo River begins.
Both split off the Min River.
