About Xinjin District

Where to stay in Xinjin District
Not every neighbourhood fits every trip — here's what each one is good for.
Xinjin District concentrates its hotels in Wujin Subdistrict, around the underground stop where Chengdu Metro Line 10 crosses Yingbin Avenue at Xiwang Road. Line 10 reached this far southwest on 27 December 2019, running mostly on viaduct, which puts Shuangliu Airport a single ride away with no change. Exit A serves the Xinjin bus station.
Huaqiao and Rulin Road stand one stop either side. Stay out here if the Ming halls at Guanyin Temple and the Baodun ramparts are what brought you, not the Chengdu core.
About Xinjin District
What are the main landmarks in Xinjin District?
Guanyin Temple stands at Baoqiao village in Yongshang Town, in the south of Xinjin District. Its Vairocana Hall was raised in 1462, and the seven fine-line murals inside date from 1468, the same year the Guanyin Hall went up with its arhat figures. China listed the temple in 2001. Baodun lies northwest, in Baodun Town, where a Neolithic settlement wrapped its earth ramparts in the pebble facing unique to the culture named after it.
It is the oldest and largest walled site of that culture. Yingbin Avenue runs past Wujin station to the Xinping (Baodun) terminus.
What is the history of Xinjin District?
Xinjin District is named for a ford. In 216 the Jianwei administrator Li Yan cut a cart road through Tianshe Mountain, doing away with the bridges, and the new crossing on the river gave the place its name. Shuangliu was merged into Xinjin in 1667 and re-established in 1730.
Xinjin Airport was built on the plain in 1928, just east of the county town. American B-29 crews staged through it in 1944 and struck the steel works at Yawata, in Kyushu. The State Council folded the county into Dayi in 1960 and restored it in 1962, Chengdu took it in 1983, and it became a district on 19 June 2020.
Where is Xinjin District?
Xinjin District reaches Chengdu's boundary with Meishan. Shuangliu District lies east, Qionglai west, and the Jinma River takes in the Xi to become the Min.
