About Qingyang District

Where to stay in Qingyang District

The right area depends on your trip — here's what each neighbourhood is best for.

Beds cluster along Renmin Middle Road, where Luomashi puts Line 1 and Line 4 one flight below the pavement. Rooms west of there sit within walking distance of Kuanzhai Xiangzi and People's Park, which suits you if evenings matter more than meeting rooms. The Jinsha wards lie further west. Chengdu West Station holds the far western end, handy for anyone taking the Chengdu to Ya'an railway or the tram line that starts there.

About Qingyang District

What are the main landmarks in Qingyang District?

Chengdu Museum stands on the west side of Tianfu Square, and the Sichuan Science and Technology Museum sits north of it on the core of the vanished Shu princely palace. Chengdu Art Museum keeps another register entirely, a late-Qing courtyard house on Zhijishi Street in the old Shaocheng quarter, listed as a Sichuan heritage building since 2007. Archaeology supplies the rest.

The Donghuamen Site opened as an archaeological park inside the Chengdu Sports Centre, showing the Sui-era Mohe Pool and a Ming palace watercourse, and the Jinsha Site Museum guards the gold Sun and Immortal Birds disc.

What is the history of Qingyang District?

Shaocheng, the lesser city laid out beside the great walled town, set the street lines this district still follows. Nian Gengyao rebuilt it in 1721 as a walled Eight Banner garrison, running west to Tongren Road and south to Jiangjun Street, and Kuanzhai Xiangzi is what is left. The Shi'erqiao timbers lie reburied.

Fugan Temple, a monastery petitioned for rain through the Tang, left only pagoda bases and inscribed sutra stones for the digs that reached Shiye Street from 2016. Qingyang District began work on 1 January 1991, built from the former Xicheng District plus the Supo and Wenjia townships taken from Jinniu District.

Where is Qingyang District?

Qingyang holds the west-central wards of Chengdu in Sichuan, flat ground crossed by the Modi River and edged along the south by the Jin River.
