Shuangliu District is the airport quarter of Chengdu. Two Line 10 stations serve the terminals of Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, and Line 3 runs seven stops through the old county town at Dongsheng to end at Shuangliuxi. Line 3 opened that stretch in 2018.
Around Shuangliu Square station the grid is working Chengdu rather than sightseeing Chengdu, a straight Line 3 ride from the centre and one change to the terminals. Huanglongxi, at the far southwestern corner of the district where Pengshan District meets it, suits you only if the river is the reason you came.

What are the main landmarks in Shuangliu District?
Shuangliu District keeps its landmarks at Huanglongxi, the old river landing in the far southwest where the Luxi River comes in from the east to join the Jin River. Zhengjie, the main street, runs between two Buddhist halls, Zhenjiang Temple at the south end and Gulong Temple at the north, with Chaoyin Temple standing between them. Seventy-six Ming and Qing houses in the western Sichuan manner line the seven streets and nine lanes of the old town, and six banyans of a thousand years and more stand along them. China listed the town in 2007.
What is the history of Shuangliu District?
Shuangliu District carries a county name given in 601. The Western Han had set up Guangdu on this ground in 127 BC, and the Sui dropped that name to avoid the given name of Yang Guang, reaching instead for the double flow of the two rivers that Zuo Si had written of. Guangdu returned under the Tang and was folded back in 1260.
Chengdu took the county in 1976. The State Council abolished it in 2015, and Shuangliu District opened on 1 March 2016.
Where is Shuangliu District?
Shuangliu District runs south from Chengdu across the Chengdu Plain into low hills, ending at Huanglongxi where Pengshan District and Renshou County meet it.
