Osiedle Czecha keeps two landmarks among its blocks, Fort IIa and Kościół Świętego Marka Ewangelisty, about two hundred metres apart. Fort IIa was raised between 1887 and 1890 as Zwischenwerk IIa, renamed in 1931 for Captain Kazimierz Więckowski, and stands in the park off Kurlandzka behind a moat ten metres wide. Water fills the ditch.
The register entry A-245 dates from 25 May 1983. Kościół Świętego Marka Ewangelisty stands at number 110, a five-sided hall drawn by Aleksander Holas inside a circle of 14.6 metres radius. Kościół Świętego Łukasza Ewangelisty is close but not here, north across Piaśnicka on Osiedle Rusa.
What is the history of Osiedle Czecha?
Osiedle Czecha was laid out around a fort eighty-five years its senior, Fort IIa of 1887. The 117th division forced a gap between Fort IIa and Fort III on 6 February 1945, and Chartowo fell in the night of 8 February. Hydrobudowa-9 serviced the ground from May 1975, and building began that July under the working letter C, split into C-1 and C-2.
Czech, the younger brother in the legend, named it, with Lech and Rus alongside. The plan lost a kindergarten. Blocks 61-72 and 114-128 were redrawn to an adapted Szczecin panel system when the prefabrication plant ran out of capacity.
A library branch and a bakery opened in October 1986.
