Cooperative flats fill the fifteen blocks between Osiedle Jagiellońskie and Osiedle Powstań Narodowych, and the estate's own addresses add two primary schools, a kindergarten and one shopping pavilion rather than any hotel. Sezam sells the groceries. Rooms sit across the Warta in the streets off the Stary Rynek, and the buses from the Osiedle Oświecenia stop on ulica Piłsudskiego all run through Rondo Rataje.
Night buses 212 and 222 also call. You would sleep out here to be near family in one of the towers, with Sezam and the pavilion the whole of the high street.

What are the main landmarks in Osiedle Oświecenia?
The shopping pavilion carries the estate's public life, and Filia nr 2 Biblioteki Raczyńskich has lent books, periodicals and multimedia from it since 1984. Three eighteen-storey towers stand over the rest. Poznań speech calls the eleven-storey slab beside them a deska, six staircases long, and the type ran to two hundred and twenty metres across Rataje.
One street, ulica Śremska, runs through the middle. Szkoła Podstawowa nr 19 takes the first address on the estate and carries the name of Stanisław Staszic, while the Estakada nad doliną Obrzycy lifts ulica Bolesława Krzywoustego over the valley beyond the blocks.
What is the history of Osiedle Oświecenia?
The first flats opened in 1973. Ulica Piłsudskiego, once Wioślarska and Ostrowska, ran as the main road out of Poznań toward Kórnik, Ostrów Wielkopolski and Upper Silesia until the Trasa Katowicka drew that traffic away. Crews had already piped the Obrzyca into a storm canal as the Rataje estates rose.
Filia nr 2 Biblioteki Raczyńskich opened on 19 July 1984. A puppet theatre branch followed on 9 February 1985 with Diabelski gwizd, a piece by Maciej Tondera that Mieczysław Abramowicz directed.
